Banteay Meanchey Provincial Administration Prohibits Use of Fireworks and Explosives For the Upcoming Lunar New Year

BANTEAY MEANCHEY: In advance to the celebrations of the 2022 Lunar New Year, the Banteay Meanchey provincial administration has banned the use of fireworks and all kinds of explosives, which can cause harm to the health of people with heart disease and affect security and social order by causing fires, or by providing opportunities for robbery activities that may involve the use of fraudulent weapons.

The ban on the use of fireworks and explosives of all kinds during the 2022 Lunar New Year will be in effect between 1-3 February. In order to avoid any incidents, the relevant weapons must be monitored to prevent their use, and people throughout the province must be reminded of these principles:

1. It is strictly forbidden to have explosives (fireworks) for sale in stalls without permission from the relevant authorities and provincial authorities.

2. The municipal-district authorities, relevant departments and units shall help to educate the people at the local level thoroughly and participate in implementation.

3. All parents must guide and forbid their children and grandchildren to not buy and burn fireworks as a game.

4. Be careful when offering sacrifices and extinguish all candles before leaving the house to go on a trip.

5. The Provincial Police Commission - The Provincial Gendarmerie Command shall send a patrol force to inspect all illegal activities in accordance with the above instructions as strictly as possible.
